good to see some female interest :P i think a good place to start would be on fruity loops demo FL Studio Homepage or if you want to go pro try cubase 4 the lastest version.Music Production :: Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH :: www.steinberg.net

If you want to go pro you will also need a powerful pc or mac i use a pc pentium quad core emu pro soundcard 4gb ram 4 160 gig sata drives stick with windows 2000 or xp vista still buggy most new pcs will be ok to start but be prepared to upgrade alot. fruityloops should be cool to begin with or give reason a try after that then Cubase or Logic

    Ez !

To have a good start , cubase ( or nuendo) is not the most simple i think.... I wouls advise audition (adobe ) because of its possibilities and it's easy to handle... there are 3 windows in the same soft , 1- sequencing 2-Editing 3-burning....The pdf is clear and plugs are quiet easy to handle too...
I could advise samplitude too , but it's like logic or cubase, not for rookies ! lol

That's my job ( music techs ) so if you have questions , feel free to ask...

    Peace
