The word SubDub is certainly no newcomer to our musical lexicon, a club night steeped in over a decade of history with its foundations firmly rooted in the UK’s northern quarters, Leeds. As the brain-child of Simon Scott and Mark Salford, SubDub was born out of a mutual love for roots and reggae, nurtured together with Mark Iration, a heavyweight force from within the scene, whose Iration Steppas Soundsystem has become one of the cornerstones of the SubDub entity over the years.

Renowned for its all-inclusive music policy spanning the old-guard and avant-garde in all things bass-related, SubDub has heralded some of the finest in bass-purveying musicians and producers alike. Veterans of the scene, Digital Mystikz, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Mad Professor and Scientist, to name but a few, have long been flying the flag from the dub-fuelled corners but the night is never complete without a healthy lick of progressive electronic indulgence, D&B and experimental dons such as Klute, Equinox, Shy FX, Vex’s and Youngsta having spearheaded proceedings in recent years.


Having evolved over the course of 14 years, on the 28th October SubDub uproots from its spiritual home to take to the cavernous walls of the Big Smoke’s Cable nightclub, the mighty Iration Steppas and Channel One sound systems in tow. Making waves across three rooms, UK’s King Alpha will be shaking things up in Room 1 alongside Kenny Knots and El Fata, room 2 is strictly roots with Sip a Cup Records boy Gussie B heading up a marathon set. Room 3 takes things left-field with experimental sets from dubstep figureheads Kromestar, Youngsta and Jack Sparrow alongside VIVEK, Hijak, Planas, Finwa and Earthpipe, hosted by MCs Sun of Selah and Toast. This is not one to miss.
