Are you a DJ? Do you have technical ability, musical intuition and a flare for performing? Do you want to give your DJ career a kick-start or are you looking for that elusive big break?

On Saturday 3rd October BPM � Europe�s biggest DJing and electronic music production event - will play host to the GCI Technologies Freestyle DJ Competition 2010. This unique competition is an unmissable opportunity for DJs to compete against each other for recognition and equipment prizes. The competition is open to all DJs, playing any style of music and using any playback technology.

The first place winner will take away either a pair of Gemini CDJ-600 CD players OR a Cortex HDC-3000 media player OR a pair of 5� Ikey Audio Active Monitor Speakers and a 10� Ikey Active Sub. As well as the equipment prize, the winner will also gain the prestige and exposure of being crowned the 2010 GCI Technologies Freestyle DJ of the Year. They will also be invited back to play a Main Stage set on the Saturday at BPM 2011 and also provided with overnight accommodation.

There will also be a second place price of either a pair of Gemini CDJ-210 CD players OR a Cortex HDC-1000 media player OR a pair of 5� Ikey Audio Active Monitor Speakers. Each of the four finalists will also win a pair of Cortex CHP-2500 Headphones and a pair of VIP tickets for BPM2011.

The competition will take place on the BPM Main Stage beginning with 16 contestants competing in 4 heats to impress a panel of industry judges. During the heats each DJ will have just five minutes to show what they can do behind the decks, before the judges choose a winner to go through to the final. The judges will base their decision on technical ability, music selection and crowd interaction. The final will take place on the Main Stage at the end of the day, with each finalist performing another five minute showcase mix. The judges will then select a runner up and the winner who will become the GCI Technologies Freestyle DJ of the Year 2010.

BPM 2010 � Europe�s Largest DJ and Music Production Show Grows Again

Following a tremendously successful event in 2009, which attracted close to 4000 visitors, BPM 2010 will return to the Birmingham NEC later this year from Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th October - an extra day due to last year's popularity. BPM brings together DJs, producers, re-mixers and electronic music lovers from every corner of the UK, across Europe and even further afield.

Now in its fourth year, BPM incorporates the biggest exhibition of DJ and electronic music production equipment to be found anywhere in Europe, which features every major manufacturer, as well as a host of smaller and niche suppliers. Visitors to the show are invited to try out all the latest kit, comparing different products in each brand�s range, and then if they find what they�re looking for, buy gear at great prices from on-site retailers. BPM is also a unique opportunity to find out about the latest new equipment releases and also to speak to the people who actually design and make the gear!

Alongside the exhibition, BPM features a varied educational programme offering inspiration as well as valuable information to DJs and producers at all levels. Throughout the three days a total of 30 seminar sessions will take place, each focusing on a different aspect of DJing or Music Production. There�s sure to be something for everyone with sessions covering technical topics ranging from the basics of beat-matching and sequencing up to advanced mixing and production techniques. There�ll also be sessions focusing on the business side of things, with advice on self-promotion and building a career in dance music. BPM will also feature a collection of unique �panel� sessions where a group of music industry experts come together to offer advice and share their personal experiences on a particular topic of debate.

As well as an ideal opportunity to try out new bits of kit and learn from the experts, BPM is also a perfect networking opportunity for DJs and producers. Hundreds of promoters, record label people and club managers attend the show, and the opportunities to meet and impress � and pass a demo to - those who may provide future employment for a DJ/producer are ample. Up and coming DJs and producers are also invited to drop off demos at the BPM �Promo Exchange�. Music industry visitors to the show are then invited to take away these specially assigned demos and feedback directly to the artists. The �Promo Exchange� will also feature a number of �demo listening clinics� where visitors will be able to play their tracks for a panel of music industry experts who will offer honest feedback and constructive criticism.

There will also be plenty of chances for up-and-coming DJs who think they�ve got what it takes to show off their skills. The �Play@� Stage will be located within the entrance to BPM and host a continuous line-up of 30 minute sets from new talent playing a variety of styles of electronic music. DJs who would like the opportunity to play a showcase set at BPM should email play@visitbpm.co.uk ASAP as slots are limited.

Advanced tickets for BPM are priced at �10.00 each and guarantee entry to every day of the event and also represent a substantial saving from the �15.00 on-the-door price. With summer swiftly turning to autumn, The Doctor�s Orders are turning up the temperature in Brighton, presenting two UK heavyweights for a long overdue performance down on the south coast, Skitz & Rodney P.

Few people have made such a solid place for themselves in the fickle world of UK Hip-Hop than the man they call Daddy Skitz. Named as a sign of respect as an elder statesman in the game. Since his earth shattering 1996 debut �Blessed Be The Manner� he has been working with anyone and everyone worthwhile on the UK scene and beyond.

Skitz is dedicated to bass and it shows! His distinctive beats sit in that very British tradition of Reggae infused Hip-Hop and always feature a bottom end that sounds like its been created in an underground cavern. AMAZE, born and raised in Germany now residing in Los Angeles is an Emcee and Producer with a style that cannot be labeled easily. From Hip Hop to Dubstep then back to Downtempo and Electronica is exactly the roller coaster ride you'll experience with this young aspiring artist. For his new Single "All I Wanted" he teamed up with his friends Ivan Ives and Michelle Staffieri to bring a fresh and innovative sound to the table. AMAZE also brought Gian Torri into the studio to produce this song with him and the chemistry between the two just couldn't have been more perfect. The best way to describe how the record feels would be a musical concoction of Dubstep, Hip Hop, R&B and epic video game FX which will make a whole lot more sense once you tune in. As far as the lyrics go "All I Wanted" is a musical conversation between two people that just can't see any affection and feelings for each other anymore; the love has gone away so to say.

Give it a listen and enjoy this piece of music which most definitely confirms that underground and mainstream can be combined very well if you want it and put the right people together.

This South London native is fast making a name for himself with his �Hunger Pains� mixtape, new single �Everyday� and live performances alongside the likes of Wu Tang�s Raekwon, Guru, Jedi Mind Tricks and radio appearances on BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM and Choice. Hobbit is a master of the once forgotten element of Hip-Hop, Beatbox. Still only 21 he is already 5 years deep into his career and still definitely in the ascendancy! Before being pipped in the final of this years UK Beatbox Championships he was the only master of his craft to have been honoured by judging the previous two years and hosting the International Beatbox Convention. Locally based with an international following, Don't Flop rap battle league will be hosting an eight-man tournament to kick-start the event. Showcasing some of the best local underground talent, head honchos Eurgh & Cruger will be hosting what is set to be a dope freestyle tournament.

Fresh from the wheels of steel at the beach party during the day, the Positivity crew will be back in full force spinning classic Hip-Hop to Soul 45s throughout, keeping necks snapping and feet tapping till early hours.

Local favorites and residents Spin Doctor & Rusty Ryan will be once again gracing the turntables and providing the majority of the musical backdrop to you and yours.

Few names in music carry quite as much kudos of that of our headline DJ ?uestlove. There are few musicians, producers or DJs that can claim to have worked with such a phenomenal array of talent as this Philadelphia native while still leaving his own distinctive mark on each one. The list reads like a who�s who of modern Hip-Hop & Soul; Jay-Z, Al Green, Erykah Badu, J-Dilla, Common, Joss Stones & De La Soul to name just a handful. All this before we even mention the fact that he is the founding member & driving force of the world most respected Hip-Hop band The Roots who themselves are now eleven albums deep.

As a drummer he is a funky metronome that has brought to life so many incredible tracks that had originally been created through samples, drum machines and computers. Just check out his leadership of the ever morphing group of musicians that calls itself the �Illadelphonics� on Jay-Z�s unplugged album (Roc-A-Fella) and Madison Square performance in �Fade To Black� (Paramount) or at �Dave Chapelle�s Block Party� (Rogue Pictures) for an example of this. As a producer, both on his own and as part of the Soulquarians alongside J-Dilla, Q-Tip & Ali Shaheed Muhammad, his musical knowledge and understanding has seen him bring the classic Al Green sound bang up to date on �Lay It Down� (Blue Note) as well as get the very best out of performers like D�Angelo & A Tribe Called Quest.

He will be making the most of all of these phenomenal attributes as he blesses The Doctor�s Orders crowd to his only London DJ set of the year which will weave a beautiful musical web between current Hip-Hop sounds, 70�s Funk, 80�s Soul & beyond to wherever this musical colossus decides to go. When dealing with a man with as much musical knowledge, power & understanding as Amir ?uestlove Thompson there is only one thing to do; find your spot on the dance-floor and get ready for this incredible three hour set, his only London DJ gig of the year.

There are few people that have made such a direct impact on what we play at our parties so to finally have him manning the decks is a real treat. I am so amped about this gig already!�
They are joined by one of London�s finest Soulful producers in the shape of Eric Lau who�s distinctive beats are matched by his DJ sets which are the perfect compliment to the night.

Upstairs in the �Breaks Lounge� meanwhile we have a quartet of the capital�s finest selectors all digging deep into their collections to provide a soundtrack entirely made up of original Soul, Funk & Disco breaks as sampled in the Hip-Hop, R&B & House classics that are such favourites with the knowledgeable and fun loving crowd for whom The Doctor�s Orders is home.

Few throughout the UK or even the world know more about how to sample and what has been sampled than the incredible Mr Thing who is sure to be giving thirsty ears plenty of edutainment. He is joined by two DJs whose reputations are growing with every set they play, DJ Lok & Chris P Cuts. While both staunch Hip-Hop fans they like nothing more than digging for those original breaks and are over the moon to have this chance to be showing the fruits of their labour. Making sure that everyone gets a warm musical welcome as they come through the doors is good friend of The Doctor�s Orders Deke Evergreen. As anyone who has been lucky enough to flick through the 45�s on the jukebox of his brilliant Clerkenwell boozer will attest his soul boy credentials are in no doubt so get ready for what is sure to be another phenomenal party!

�Slick Tricks� by Kraymon is our cinematic opening release, with a blistering remix from Wascal to round off the package. Kraymon, an already established producer in the breakbeat world, has ventured outwards and upwards to forge new sounds: �Slick Tricks� has a heavy mutated sound with skippy percussion, surging bass, deep melodic undertones and sword sounds (naturally).

Wascal ups the pace with dynamic beats, lush melodies and a healthy dose of acid, making this debut release from Louse Records something to write home and tell your mum about.
