Then new windows 7 features a brand new media player version 12 it has lots more functions and cool things you can do with it. So if you have vista 64 bit you can get it to run on vista. This will not work on vista 32 bit or XP

So download these files: Windows Media Player 12 Download Windows Media Player 12 for Vista

Before doing installation, make sure you follow the step clearly and create a restore in your computer. This way you can be sure nothing goes wrong with your current version of Windows Media Player.

Important make backups of all these files

1. Backup wmploc.dll from C:\Windows\System32

2. Backup Windows Media Player folder from C:\Program Files

3. Copy wmploc.dll from downloaded files in C:\Windows\System32

4. Copy Windows Media Player folder from downloaded files to C:\Program Files

If you have problems with permissions changing this file wmploc.dll

follow these steps

1:Close Windows Media Player

2:Get ownership of wmploc.dll. C:\Windows\System32\wmploc.dll

3:Right-click wmploc.dll and select properties then security tab then click advanced

4:Select the owner tab and click edit

5:Next select the administrators from the list and press OK

6:Go back right click wmploc.dll again and select properties select the security tab and press advanced

7:Select Administrators from the list and press Edit

8:Check "tick" all the boxes under allow to Full Control press OK

9:Now you can rename this file wmploc_backup.dll and then copy over the new file in the downloaded zip.


Warning: remember to make these backups first

Only do this if you know what your doing and you can follow instructions!

If you cant manage this and you still want media player 12 then you have to go out and buy Windows 7
